The Christmas Song (04:43) Songwriters: Robert Wells and Mel Tormé Publisher: Troubadours of Divine Bliss Music, BMI

This Christmas classic was originally written on a hot Summer day in 1945. Mel Torme went over to the house of one of his writing partners, Bob Wells. Mel discovered a spiral pad at the piano where four lines scribbled down on it in pencil. Those four lines were: "Chestnuts roasting on an open fire / Jack Frost nipping at your nose / Yuletide carols being sung by a choir / And folks dressed up like Eskimos." When Bob Wells eventually appeared, he told Mel that he had been trying to do everything to cool down on that hot day. Wells said, "I thought that maybe if I could just write down a few lines of wintry verse, I could physiologically get an edge over this heat." During this challenging time of a pandemic, we share this amazing classic to help nostalgically transport you into the timeless atmosphere of “The Christmas Song”. We hope it warms your heart and gives you hope.
